St. Paul Church of God in Christ was founded May 2, 1982 in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church building at 901 Lynch Street. The church was founded on a strong evangelist and wholistic ministry approach. St. Paul grew for three years at the Lynch Street location. Dr. Jesse Kelly and his family with his wife and two small children were it’s first and founding family. The church grew, St. Paul moved to 1775 Booker Street. More souls were added including leaders. St. Paul developed into a structured and stable congregation. St. Paul remained at the 1775 Booker Street location for 14 years.
Having outgrown the location property was purchased in South Jackson at 3328 Oak Forest Drive. The current location of St. Paul has doubled in size and support and operates over 20 ministries. The church’s motto is “A Christ-Centered Wholistic Ministry”
